The Charlottesville District UMC Churches are trying to raise $400,000 to build a Heart Havens housing apartment complex. The complex will provide housing for men and women with intellectual disabilities in the Charlottesville area. Call the Charlottesville United Methodist District Office at (434) 977-4254 to get involved. You can also make a donation to the project directly from the District’s website.

Missionary Support

Thank you for your support of Clara Biswas, a missionary serving in Cambodia. Rodes United Methodist Church has a covenant relationship with her for many years in which we commit to support her financially. Our financial goal is $1050.00 per year. Any money raised above the covenant amount will be used to support projects she is involved with. You can donate through the church treasury or through the United Methodist Men. You can also pray for her. Clara is involved in ministering to disadvantaged people. Through her working with children and families she is able to help those persons with basis needs and present the gospel message.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men meet the third Tuesday of each month, 7:30 P.M. in the church library. The men sponsor a spaghetti meal and a hot dog supper each year to raise funds for mission projects. The men also coordinate raising funds for missionary Clara Biswas. All men are invited to attend the meeting of the United Methodist Men. After the meeting, the men join the United Methodist Women for refreshments.

Men’s Bible Study

Each Tuesday: Afton Men’s fellowship and Bible study beginning 7:30 A.M. Breakfast is offered. Twice a month members of this study lead singing at local nursing homes, on the second Tuesday at Avante and the fourth Tuesday at Augusta. Men from various churches attend this study and help with the singing.
